To finish our travel diary I need to write a little bit about my great passion: the Eiffel Tower! For every day we were in Paris we always found a way to go there to admire the Tower. It seems that we never get tired of it!

I confess that although I have always been fascinated by the Tower I had never gone to the top and underestimated the tour. But on our first day as we were on a  hotel that was around there we decided to give a chance and visit the top. It was night alredy and with the cold and rainy day the queues were small, in a few minutes we were with our tickets in hand.

I must say that it was much more amazing than I could have ever imagined. It’s incredible to be there, the symbol of the city, we stopped on every floor to take pictures and observe every detail. At the top the wind was very strong and very cold, but nothing would stop us from enjoying every second.

Going to the top we saw the Tower light up and blink (this happens in the first five minutes of every hour!) and it’s magical, everyone enjoy! Paris is even more beautiful and perfect from above, with its streets, gardens and monuments. Definitely recommend a visit to the Tower and now I’m thinking about going back there to also visit during the day.

The next day, after we returned to the Eiffel Tower to shoot a look du jour we walked to the Louvre. In all the cities we were always on foot, in my opinion the best way to know a city well, visiting streets that were not in the plans and give a chance to the unexpected.

And it was precisely what happened on that day! We were going to the Louvre, but at the begginig of the Tuilerie’s garden  we found a ferris wheel. The tour was not in our plans, but we decided to go there and  see Paris from above. And it was a beautiful view? Amazing to see the Louvre, the Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, all so perfect!

Among the places not visited on my first trip to the city but they were on my list of priorities was the Sacré-Coeur. This monumental church is in the neighborhood of Montmartre, that charming little Paris region that appears in the film Amélie Poulain.

Montmartre itself is grate and looks just as a film set, with its staircases, narrow streets and many artists in the streets with their art and portrait paintings. The Sacré-Coeur is really beautiful and the view from there is also worth a few clicks.

Despite the sun, the streets were still wet from the last rain and a new storm approached. To escape the cold wind we stopped at a cafe right there for a much needed hot chocolate and sandwich.

A few minutes later we got to Montmartre and climb the steps of Sacre Coeur, we were surprised by a storm. With the rainy weather we decided to go to the Galeries Lafayette and as we left the subway we found this beautiful sky photo down there. The perfect light to make the city even more beautiful.

Our last two days in Paris we stayed at the Hotel de Banville and had an experience of dreams there. Starting with the reception which was really kind and gentle, with champagne and snacks to celebrate our arrival and a little card in Portuguese (love! One of the staff spoke Portuguese and was very nice with us).

As we entered our room I stood for a few minutes just admiring it, it was actually a mini apartment with a very clean and cozy decor, room with a balcony overlooking the Eiffel Tower, bath, a delightful bed and a closet!

We liked so much the room that we ended up taking some pictures for a look du jour there, and particularly those were some of my favorite photos of the trip. If you have not seen, it is worth checking out here!

And even in the gray and rainy days having a view like this is a dream! Paris never loses its charm.
